History

The H&J Water Company is a non-profit mutual benefit corporation run by community volunteers. The volunteers are elected by the community for a two-year term. Its predecessor organization was a non-profit mutual benefit association formed in the 1960s. The Association was created to provide water to the Pine Hills subdivision of Frisius Park which was created in 1926. While the subdivision was created in 1926, no homes were constructed until the Association was created.

Due to changes in State law the association decided to incorporate ( as have many mutual water associations in the State of California). The service area for the H&J Water Company is largely the same area as when the Association was originally formed in 1965 with a few minor additions.

H&J Water Company service area is adjacent to the William Heise Park. The company's main well is located on a plot of land owned by the company in the park.
